Tree beats penguins in race to the line

In this year’s Tatton Yule Yomp, a number of records were broken. The fastest lap by a Christmas tree – ever. The most penguins on course in a 10K – in the world. And a TYY PB for money raised for charity – since records began.

Sponsored by Epigram, the event raised an amazing £24,500, taking the total to £100,000 since the race began in 2009. The funds go to three local cancer and caring charities.

The running pud, designed by Ben Hounslow, has become an enduring brand for the TYY, evolving from a simple pudding to a fully animated character. Our support also includes designing the web site, T shirts, banners and race materials.

2013 saw the first Epigram running team out on course. We’d like to say that they delivered a winning performance, but were more covered in mud than glory. Some still recovering, but muttering that they might have another go in 2016. Of course, there may be a three-line whip!
